St. Mark's CYO B Champ
Long Beach took an early lead in the CYO Class B Championship Game , but the St. Mark’s boys regained their composure and slowly but surely "clawed" their way back to cut the deficit to 2 points at halftime. The lead changed 6 times in the third quarter before a 7-0 run put St. Mark's in command and it was all St. Mark's in the 4th quarter, with clutch foul shooting and incredible defense sealing the deal! Final score: St. Mark's 48, Long Beach 41. The young men who were part of this incredible 17-2 season are: Christopher Sheehan, Chris Gray, Kyle Higgins, Tanner Bardes, Jalen Wright, Steven Pirani, Joey Miller, Ryan Heeter, Danny Cassidy, Thomas Houlihan, Brian Morrell, Dean Stalzer, Kevin Cutinella, and Matty Julian (Team Captain). The team is coached by Brian Sheehan and Mike Julian.

Being A Successful Youth Coach
Liking kids has to be a priority. Your primary reason for coaching should be to help young people grow, mature and develop in to successful, well rounded and respected adults. Of course we all want to win, but if winning is the only thing that counts, you'll never have the pride and satisfaction that comes from your players success in life.

Many coaches are parents, but the two roles should not be confused. As a coach you are responsible not only to yourself and your child, but also to the organization, all the players on the team, and their parents.

Training And Young Athletes
Should pre-adolescent kids lift weights or shouldn't they? Will it stunt their growth or increase their likelihood of future sporting success? Is growth plate damage a real concern or merely an exaggerated issue? This debate has raged on for years. The Games Approach
Can you recall learning a sport by playing with a group of your friends in the neighborhood? You didn't learn the basic skills first; there was no time for that. You began playing immediately. If you didn't know the basic things to do, your friends told you quickly during the game so they could keep playing.

Young Post Players
You don’t have to be tall to play the game of basketball, but every coach should learn to develop the tall young players in his program. The tall player who can move, play aggressive defense, is coordinated, has agility and mobility and know how to operate in the low post is a gem in any offensive system.

The highlight of the 10 game schedule was a thriller between the defending Class AA Champion Hills West Colts and the St. Anthony's Friars, won by Hills West on a coast to coast driving layup by Emile Blackman at the buzzer.
Hills West star Tavon Sledge was outstanding on both ends, electryfing the crowd with high-flying dunks and above the rim blocks, while Steven Pandales and Marco Peraica turned in strong performances for the Friars, who look like they might be unexpected contenders in the NSCHSAA
