Ryan Spadaford Commits to Navy
Rising Stars Ryan Spadaford will be taking his talents this coming fall to the United States Naval Academy.  Spadaford committed last week after taking an official visit to Navy. Ryan said " after visiting the campus, meeting the players and coaches I decided that Navy is where I want to be.  It will provide a lifetime of opportunities on and off the court".  Ryan's dream and goal was to play division 1 basketball. He has accomplished that goal and is now looking forward to the challenges ahead.
The Naval Academy is one of the toughest schools in the country to get into.  Ryan's coach Dan Gimpel said " It is always great to see a young student/athlete from our program use basketball as vehicle to get into college.  Ryan has worked extremely hard and we wish him nothing but the best".  Ryan's talents drew interest down at the Nationals in Orlando this past summer by Associate Head Coach Jay Crafton,  while playing for the Rising Stars. Coach Crafton immediately noticed some of the intangibles that Ryan had which separated him from everyone else. Competing against the top players and teams in the country is where Ryan showcased  his toughness and heart.
As a senior at Southside Ryan pulled in numerous honors.  Ryan was an all-county selection, 1st team all public school, 1st team all conference, and 2nd team all-long island. Ryan will start the next chapter in his life and for his country!
